Hello
Gamecube Thing is the quest to beat (mostly) every gamecube game, streamed live at twitch.tv/tapioca. After each game, five random games are rolled and a poll is held in chat to vote on what gets played next! On December 10th, 2024, I beat the final of 474 games and finished the challenge.
Go to the Games page to see a list of every game I played along with playtime, ratings, reviews, and links to vods.
Some Rules
- NA releases only, plus some JP & PAL stuff that looks interesting
- Sequels can't be played until their previous game has been played
- Gamefaqs is allowed
- I have the right to define and re-define "beating the game" as necessary
Stuff I Didn't Play
- Sports Trash - Madden, FIFA, NBA 2K, etc. Extreme sports games and some others will be played.
- Karaoke Revolution Party - I am not going to sing on stream, sorry.
- Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life - Identical to Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, which I will play.
- Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II - Identical to PSO Ep 1&2 Plus, which I will play.
- Pokemon Box - Not a real game. Yes I know it can play gen 3, that doesn't count.
- Summoner: A Goddess Reborn - Wasn't able to play the game without it constantly crashing.
Infrequently Asked Questions
- Retro game collections - Beat one game on the disc. If it's an arcade collection and the games don't have endings, just play everything
- Game Boy Player - I spent a day playing GBA games, and beat Dark Arena in particular
- Shadow the Hedgehog - Got the true ending, requiring 10 total playthroughs
- The Sims 2: Pets - This game has no ending so I just got to career level 10. All other Sims games had a story mode to beat
- Animal Crossing - All debts
- Super Smash Bros Melee - All events, which requires unlocking all characters and beating most of the singleplayer game modes
- Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life - The game ends naturally after 9 in-game years
- Harvest Moon: Magical Melody - The game ends after collecting 50 notes
- Phantasy Star Online - Can be played 100% offline, which is what I did
- All games requiring special peripherals were played with them (DK bongos, dance mat, microphone)
